last 6-digit motorcycle plates to Be Issued This Month
By John Davis • Apr 25th, 2008 • Category: Northwest Cycle News HeadlinesThe Washington State Department of Licensing expects to issue the last 6-digit license plate number, 999998, by the end of the month. The state is keeping the 999999 as a potential heirloom that may be put on display sometime down the road.
New motorcycle plates will begin with 0A0001. The department projects this number configuration will supply enough plates for the next 50 years. The DOL has been issuing plates with six numbers since 1975. Before that, plate numbers were made up of two letters, followed by three numbers.
